THE BRIEF
C4 is one of New Zealand’s hottest Television stations, catering for music and youth focused entertainment. Monday to Friday 4pm to 6:00pm the station runs a service called Vodafone Select where viewers vote to see their favourite song/video via SMS.
SOLUTION
The Sonic Mobile development team built a custom application to handle the complex voting and playlist service. The application was then deployed on the Global Connect gateway.
RESULTS
The service has been successfully running for over two years and continues to grow in popularity.
Over 200,000 votes were received in 2009 with 2010 numbers looking like easily exceeding this.
The messages are charged at a premium rate meaning the service had paid for itself within 6 months of going live.
