THE BRIEF
With the growth explosion that Twitter has experienced worldwide, Vodafone wanted to be able to offer their customers something extra. By providing the ability to send and receive "tweets" via SMS they are ensuring that this form of communication is truly instant and up-to-date.
SOLUTION
Vodafone needed a mobile gateway that was scalable and robust enough to handle both large volumes, and importantly, large spikes in traffic. The Sonic Global Connect Gateway enables Twitter users on Vodafone to access their accounts to send and receive messages.
RESULTS
16.5 million messages in the first 6 months of operation for a carrier with 1 million users.
The incredible success and uptake of this method of communication has encouraged other Vodafone networks around the world to offer the same service. It has also given Vodafone a powerful advertising platform to encourage customer loyalty to them.
